STORY BEHIND LEGACY SNAPBACK
THIS SNAPBACK DID NOT START WITH A FINAL DESIGN. IT STARTED WITH RESEARCH.
BEFORE THE LEGACY SNAPBACK BECAME A PRODUCT, IT WENT THROUGH A LONG PHASE OF STUDYING WHAT MAKES A CAP ACTUALLY FEEL RIGHT — NOT JUST VISUALLY, BUT IN STRUCTURE, COMFORT, AND LONG-TERM WEAR.
WE LOOKED AT SHAPE, DEPTH, FRONT PANEL STABILITY, CROWN PRESENTATION, MATERIAL RESPONSE, AND HOW DIFFERENT DETAILS HOLD UP OVER TIME. THE GOAL WAS NEVER TO MAKE JUST ANOTHER CAP. THE GOAL WAS TO MAKE ONE THAT FELT RESOLVED.
MULTIPLE FABRICS WERE TESTED BEFORE WE COMMITTED TO THE FINAL ONE.
DIFFERENT FABRICS CHANGE EVERYTHING IN A SNAPBACK — THE WAY THE FRONT HOLDS, THE WAY THE CROWN SITS, THE WAY THE CAP AGES, AND EVEN HOW PREMIUM THE FINISH FEELS IN HAND.
SOME OPTIONS FELT TOO STIFF. SOME LOST PRESENCE. SOME DID NOT DRAPE OR HOLD THE PROFILE THE WAY WE WANTED. AFTER MULTIPLE TRIALS, WE LANDED ON A MATERIAL DIRECTION THAT FELT BALANCED: STRUCTURED ENOUGH TO HOLD FORM, SOFT ENOUGH TO FEEL WEARABLE.
THE FIT PROCESS
WE TESTED DIFFERENT FITS, DEPTHS, AND SHAPES UNTIL THE SILHOUETTE FINALLY FELT RIGHT.
SHAPE ALONE WAS NOT ENOUGH. THE FIT HAD TO BE TESTED REPEATEDLY.
WE WORKED THROUGH DIFFERENT CROWN HEIGHTS, PANEL BALANCE, CURVE RESPONSE, AND OVERALL HEAD FEEL TO MAKE SURE THE SNAPBACK DID NOT FEEL TOO SHALLOW, TOO HIGH, OR AWKWARDLY PROPORTIONED.
THAT PROCESS MATTERED BECAUSE A CAP CAN LOOK GOOD IN A SAMPLE PHOTO AND STILL FEEL WRONG IN REAL LIFE. THE FINAL FIT WAS CHOSEN ONLY AFTER THE SHAPE FELT STABLE, CLEAN, AND EASY TO WEAR.
WE ALSO TESTED DIFFERENT LOGO PRINTING METHODS BEFORE CHOOSING THE FINAL EXECUTION.
THE FRONT LOGO NEEDED TO LOOK BOLD WITHOUT FEELING CHEAP, FLAT, OR TEMPORARY. DIFFERENT APPLICATION METHODS WERE CONSIDERED AND TESTED TO SEE WHICH ONE DELIVERED THE RIGHT DEPTH, EDGE DEFINITION, DURABILITY, AND VISUAL IMPACT.
THAT IS WHY THE FINAL SNAPBACK DOES NOT FEEL RANDOM. IT FEELS DECIDED. EVERY PART OF IT — FABRIC, FIT, AND LOGO EXECUTION — CAME THROUGH TRIAL, REVISION, AND REFINEMENT BEFORE IT EARNED THE LEGACY NAME.
